Mustafa Bağdiken - Ergün Ayaz / İzmit, Aug 12 () – In Turkey’s automotive base- western province of İzmit - as most of the automotive companies including Ford Otosan factory in Gölcük district have suspended production, due to routine annual maintenance works, the ro-ro ships dragged their anchors to Golf of İzmit.

Five giant ro-ro ships are waiting off İzmit and Gölcük, for companies to resume their production.

In the first half of 2015, the automotive industry in Turkey have had a rough year after the strikes and protests of workers in factories of Bursa, which later have spread to other factories.

When the strikes ended and the modifications in the production departments of these companies were settled, the normalization in the factory was partly assured.

Then, along with Ford factory, automotive production companies came to a standstill due to annual routine maintenance work. Accordingly, all the workers except the maintenance staff were allowed to take leaves from August 5. Due to suspensions at factories, ro-ro ships had to drag their anchors over Gulf of İzmit.

The Metal Workers Trade Union of Turkey (Türk Metal) announced that at Ford Otosan factory in Gölcük, beginning from midnight August 16, the first shift workers will be starting to work and the production will be recommenced.
