Nilüfer Demir - Yaşar Anter / Muğla, Sep 3 () – In Aegean resort town of Bodrum, organizers carrying migrants in attempt to cross into Europe through Turkey have put an inflatable boat in fire and fled, as the migrants objected the organizers’ demand to carry 50 people that sparked a dispute, following the boat disaster on Sep. 2, recorded in heart-wrenching pictures by Dogan News Agency reporter Nilüfer Demir.
After the tragedy where 12 illegal migrants have drown off the coast and left lifeless bodies of toddlers washing the shore, the number of illegal transitions through Bodrum has not stopped but fell.
While the tragedy raised illegal migrants’ concerns about risking their lives, a boat to carry a group of migrants dreaming to cross into Greece though Hüseyin Point in Turgutreis Neighbourhood was set on fire by the organizers, as around 50 migrants objected to get on the boat with small capacity, after having paid around 1000 dollars per person. After the dispute, the organizers set the boat up in fire and fled.
The group of Syrian migrants, mostly children and women, ran away with fear from flames of the fire, and then were captured by the gendarmerie. The gendarmerie officers brought the group to Bodrum city center for testimony.
