Addis Ababa, July 28 () – US President Barack Obama called on the world to recognize that Africa is one of the fastest-growing regions worldwide.
As the first President to the United States who has spoken at the African Union, Obama began his speech urging, “We are all born equal. Africa is the cradle of humanity” and accentuated the economic growth of the region.
“I've called on the world to change its approach. I’ve worked to transform America's relationship with Africa. I believe Africa’s rise is important to the entire world” added Obama.
Extreme poverty in the region was another subject that Obama has raised in this historical speech.
According to Obama’s statement, if Africa educates its youth, this will create a significant demographic advantage.
In this regard, “In many places in Africa it is still very hard to build a business. We are increasing trade missions in Africa. Real economic partnership have to be a good deal for Africa” added President of the U.S..
Having referred to the debates of democracy, “Africa’s progress will also depend on democracy. We must expand freedoms, broaden democracy” said Obama, adding:
“No one is above the laws. Even the presidents...”
