Istanbul, Aug 7 ( ) - Turkey's indrustrial production, a leading indicator of economic growth, rose on annual and monthly basis in June, after a pre-election fall.

According to Industrial Production Index released by Turkstat, seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production rose by 2.4 percent in June against the previous month. Meanwhile, this index showed an annual increase by 5.5 percent compared to the same month last year.

Also, industrial production increased by 1.6 percent in the second quarter of 2015, and by 3.9 percent compared with the previous quarter, against 2014’ index.

The report released by Turkstat last month has revealed that seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production had fallen by 2.0 percent in May against the previous month; as of end of May, the annual hike was at a level of 2.4 percent.

In June mining and quarrying sectors’ index rose by 1.3 percent, while manufacturing index rose by 3.3 percent. Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index, on the other hand, fell by 3.4 percent, compared with the previous month.

In annual basis, the index of mining and quarrying decreased by 6.6 percent, and manufacturing index rose by 6.9 percent. Accordingly, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 1.4 percent in June 2015.

In reference to the main industrial groupings classification, the largest raise was in durable consumer goods by 13.3 percent in June 2015, compared with the previous month.

Regarding the manufacturing subsector, the largest increase was detected in fabrication of other transport equipments, with 32.9 percent. This was followed by manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 19.8 percent, then machinery and equipment production by 12.0 percent.

In the same period, the highest fall was spotted for leather and related products’ manufacturing with 8.5 percent. This fall was followed by manufacture of beverages by 4.6 percent and manufacture of wearing apparel by 2.2 percent.
