İstanbul, 29 Temmuz () – Total annual circulation of newspapers and magazines published in Turkey fell by 7.6 percent, while the number of these publications fell by 0.5 percent in 2014, against in 2013, accrding to the datka released by Turkstat.
According to the Print Media Statistics of Turkstat, the number of newspapers and magazines fell by 0.5 percent to 7,120 in 2014, against in 2013, 58.7 percent of which includes magazines. The report suggests that decrease of the total number is related to the drop in local newspapers’ volume.
Turkstat’s data also identifies that the number of published newspapers in 2014 consists of 89 percent local, 4.9 percent regional and 6.2 percent national publications. Also, 38.2 percent of the magazines were local, 6.6 percent were regional and 55.2 percent were national, according to the report.
Some 54.5 percent of the total annual magazine circulation was under monthly publications and 16.9 percent was under weekly publications.
In addition, the total annual circulation of newspapers and magazines decreased by 7.6 in one year, and regressed to an amount of 2,275 million, including newspapers with a rate of 94.1 percent, in 2014’s data.
Some 14.1 percent of the total annual circulation were of local, and 2 percent were of regional prints, while 83.9 percent of this rate were of national newspapers and magazines.
Turkstat’s statistics reveal that daily newspapers made up of a 90.2 percent of the total annual circulation, 16.9 percent of these publications was made up of weekly editions, and 54.5 percent has consisted of monthly publications, within the total annual magazine circulation.
