Bursa, Sep 7 () – The Roman Theatre in İznik district of Bursa province, that has been under excavation and restoration works eyes UNESCO as candidate for World Heritage List.

Efforts continue to erect the 2,000-year-old theatre, with its original structure, as Bursa Mayor Recep Altepe said.

A team consulted by Professor Ayşın Özügül from Uludağ University, along with many artefacts in the city, with more than 450 different works at 10 new districts, will restorate the Roman Theatre and open its doors to public as theatre.

The artefacts in the region are thought to date back to Ottoman and Seljuk States, along with Eastern Roman and Bithynia periods.

Following the findings, the relievo of the theatre will be prepared for restorations, and the theatre gain back its original appearance.
